THE INVISIBLE LINE OF RESPECT
The Invisible Line of Respect
~ By Vishal Suthar
Here, we talk about the line that lies between a reputed man and an insulted one.
There is an invisible boundary between them.
People treat them according to their position.
On one side of this line, they are praised
on the other side, they are blamed for their failures.
🌱Boundaries Beyond Borders
Every nation has defined borders that preserve its identity and dignity.
But beyond these physical lines, our personal lives are shaped by invisible boundaries—ones that aren't marked on any map, yet are deeply felt.
These are the unseen lines of respect, drawn not in ink but in perception, effort, and social recognition.
You can't see them—but if you’ve ever longed for acknowledgment or validation, you’ve surely felt their presence.
🌱The Invisible Wall Between Honor and Indifference
This line of respect is much like the mythological Lakshman Rekha—sacred and difficult to cross.
On one side lies honor, recognition, and value.
On the other—neglect, disregard, and invisibility.
And to move from one side to the other?
It takes unwavering dedication, grit, and relentless perseverance.
🌱Why Do Only a Few Cross It?
Often, the people who manage to cross this line are celebrated, even idolized.
But what’s forgotten is the years of silent sacrifice, failures, and late nights that went into reaching that point.
Meanwhile, those who stand just a few steps away—who worked just as hard—are often overlooked.
They remain wondering why society showers respect only on those who’ve “made it,” forgetting that respect should be about effort, not just achievement.
🌱The Line in Competitive Exams
Nowhere is this line more evident than in competitive exams.
Here, the passing mark becomes the boundary of respect.
A student who scores just above it is labeled a success.
One who misses it by a single mark is often treated as a failure.
The student who passes is praised, even their flaws are ignored.
The one who doesn’t? Their hard work is forgotten, and only their shortcomings are remembered.
Is that fair?
🌱The Political Divide
The same logic applies to politics.
A candidate who wins an election is showered with glory and admiration.
But the one who loses—no matter how visionary, honest, or dedicated—is quickly forgotten.
Success becomes the sole basis of respect.
🌱Everyone Wants to Cross This Line
Every individual—no matter their background or ambition—desires respect.
And there’s nothing wrong with that. Respect is a fundamental human need.
It gives us a sense of identity, of purpose, of being seen.
But should respect only be given to those who succeed?
🌱Rethinking How We Define Worth
We need to change the way we see success and effort.
Let’s ask ourselves:
Should a person’s value be measured only by outcome?
Or should it also include their persistence, their resilience, their commitment to try, even in the face of failure?
True respect should be extended to:
The ones who tried
The ones who dared to dream
The ones who didn’t give up—even when life said no
🌱A More Compassionate Perspective
The line of respect is real, but it shouldn’t become a barrier that divides people.
Instead, let it be a bridge—a symbol of inspiration, not exclusion.
Let’s create a culture where we don’t just celebrate the winners, but also honor the strugglers—because they, too, carry greatness within them.
🌱Final Thought
Respect should not be reserved only for those who succeed.
It should also be given to those who dare, who strive, and who continue to fight, even when the world looks the other way.
Because the journey matters—and so do the ones who walk it.
